Large Vintage Couroc of Monterey black inlaid tray. Produced in CA, the tray is made of a proprietary formula of a Phenolic Resin mix. This has a wonderful Zen or Asian feel to it.
The bamboo has wood hand inlaid, with brass or metal is fused into the black stain Phenolic. The metal looks like brass.
Back of the tray has a gold couroc label with black writing.
Rich warm colors, wonderful inlaid design.
There are minor surface scratches. The top, left corner has a chip out of it, see photo.
Dimensions: 18" x 12" about 1/2" Deep.

The Couroc Company was a Monterey California company that produced many different types and shapes of trays, boxes, ashtrays and glassware from 1948. Their products have become and remain collectible because of their high quality and beauty. Couroc products are cherished gifts because of their great variety and beauty in design. Hand inlaid by master craftsmen, shells, coins, Rhinestones, woods and metals are fused into Couroc's famous satin black material which is impervious to alcohol, boiling water, and cigarette burns. Wash trays with mild soap and water.
